Joe Slavens, President

Following graduation from the University of Iowa College of Law in 1988, Joe joined the former Northwest Bank & Trust Company as its legal counsel. Over the next decade he assumed responsibility for management of the Bank’s trust department (now known as Tower Trust & Investment Company) and later, its loan division. In 1995, he launched the software division that is now Stratman Solutions. He was named President of the Bank in 1999 and President of Northwest Investment Corp. in 2002. From 2018 through 2023, Joe led the acquisition of and “rolling-up” eight previously independent tax and accounting firms to create Centennial Tax & Accounting.

Donna Connors, Senior Vice President & Controller

Donna joined Northwest Bank & Trust Company in 1983 as a part-time clerk in the Credit Card Department. She became a full-time collector in 1984 and was promoted to Accounting Assistant in 1985. In the Accounting Department, she was promoted to Accounting Department Manager in 1988, Accounting Systems Officer in 1984, Controller in 2000, and Vice President in 2013. In 2025, Donna was promoted to Senior Vice President and Controller, and she is responsible for all of the accounting functions, payroll, and benefits for NIC and all of the subsidiaries.

Tracy Schwind, Senior Vice President & Chief Experience Officer

Tracy joined Northwest Bank & Trust Company in 2009 as Vice President, Marketing. She was promoted to Senior Vice President in 2013. She served as General Manager of Stratman Solutions 2013—2018 before adding Human Resources duties to her role. Tracy currently supports the NIC family of companies with their marketing and employee recruitment, retention and engagement needs.
